Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you’re 70 1/2 or older, you may choose to gift retirement plan assets to donate to charity using a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). The QCD is excluded from your taxable income. Using a QCD is a tax-savvy strategy that allows you to transfer up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity. This will lower both your adjusted gross income and taxable income, resulting in a lower overall tax liability.
