Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you’re 70 1/2 or older, you may choose to gift retirement plan assets to donate to charity-a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). The QCD is excluded from your taxable income. Using a QCD is a tax-savvy strategy that allows you to transfer up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity. This will lower both your adjusted gross income and taxable income, resulting in a lower overall tax liability. In order to give from your RMD as a QCD, utilize the instructions listed under the “giving stock” section below.

Each gift you have made to the Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund in your lifetime has been recorded. These gifts from alumni are totaled and when gifts total at least $500, become a member of the North Star Club. We so appreciate each member of our North Star Club and their commitment to giving to the Scholarship Fund.
Each donor whose lifetime gifts total $100,000 is honored with a scholarship awarded in their name. The donor may then specify preferences as to which attributes the Scholarship Fund should look for when selecting a student to receive the scholarship given in their name. If you would like to find out how much you have given to the Fund in your lifetime, email Holly Anderson. A one-time or multi-year pledge gift may be arranged in order to meet the $100,000 level if you decide to create a named scholarship.
